The New Horizons Program is a social recovery program that gives members an opportunity to participate in outings and participate in activities outside of the Center that they may not otherwise experience. Most activities are free or of minimal cost. Members have taken day trips to neighboring attractions in Detroit such as the Motown Museum, the African American Museum, Shipshewana, Indiana, and Frankenmuth, Michigan. Regular activities include bowling, coffee hours, and lunch clubs at area restaurants. Training on how to use the TARTA bus, community volunteer opportunities, and individual linkages where the Center pays part of a member's fee for activities in the community such as ceramic classes, zoo or fitness club memberships are also offered.
